Not hiring yet. Here's the shape.
FlowChat is currently solo-founder operable by design — the Cloudflare-native stack means we don’t need a platform team to run the pipeline. Hiring opens up after seed; below are the roles we’d add first and what we’d look for.
Founding engineer — retrieval
Owns the chunker + embedder + retriever pipeline. Cares about answer accuracy more than benchmark scores. Can debug a regression in <100ms TTFT p95 without panicking.
Founding engineer — admin & customer console
Laravel + Filament v4. Has shipped a multi-tenant SaaS console before and knows why it was painful. Can write SQL by hand.
Designer — product
Owns the widget surface and the admin UX. Type-driven. Cares about reduced-motion and screen-reader paths as much as the happy path.
What we'd look for, in any role.
- You ship things end-to-end. The MVP is real, has tests, and gets deployed; the gold-plated v2 happens after the v1 is in production.
- You write things down. Design docs precede implementation. Bug reports include a repro and a root cause, not just a screenshot.
- You have opinions about chunking, retrieval, citation discipline, or refusal — or you’ll have them within two weeks of starting.
- You can do the work async. We’re not building a full-time office presence in v1; the team is small enough that text-first coordination works.
